At the World Robot Conference held on August 8, 2025, amid an array of robots showcasing their cutting-edge capabilities, JD.com stood out as the most eye-catching major enterprise.
JD.com unveiled its Intelligent Robot Industry Acceleration Plan, announcing that it will invest over 10 billion yuan in the intelligent robot sector. Over the next three years, it will help 100 intelligent robot brands achieve annual sales exceeding 1 billion yuan each, and drive the deployment of intelligent robots into more than one million end-use scenarios.
Specifically, JD.com’s layout in the robotics sector covers multiple dimensions.
First, it serves as a major sales channel for robots. Statistics show that during the 618 Shopping Festival, JD.com’s self-operated sales of intelligent robots surged three times year-on-year, while sales of embodied intelligent robots jumped 17 times.
During the conference, JD.com also partnered with Beijing Economic and Technological Development Area to launch the E-Town Robot Consumption Festival. It offers online consumers more than 680 robot products from 63 brand stores across four categories: quadruped robots, biped robots, exoskeleton robots, and educational companion robots.
In addition, JD.com aims to further advance the industrial deployment of its large models in the field of embodied AI. To this end, JD has upgraded its large model brand to JoyAI, featuring a full spectrum of model sizes ranging from 3B to 750B, and supporting multiple modalities including language, speech, image, video, and digital humans.
Xiaodong He from JD Exploration Research Institute believes that embodied intelligence relies on three core modules. The first is a motion-control cerebellum that enables robots to move and act in the physical world. The second is a brain that enhances experience, interaction, and perception capabilities. The third refers to input and output interaction (IO), allowing robots to deliver effective feedback to users.
JD mainly provides capabilities for the brain and IO interaction in its layout of embodied intelligence. Its IO capabilities include speech recognition under complex noisy environments and accurate comprehension of children’s voice expressions.
The embodied AI brand JoyInside serves as a key platform for JD to expand its ecological partnership network in embodied intelligence. At present, dozens of leading brands have accessed JD JoyInside, including companion robot brands such as Fuzozo and Huohuotu; educational brands such as Yuanluobo AI, BOE, Xin Dalu, Ling Yuzhou, Folotoy, and Luka Doctor; as well as industrial players including QuadIntelli, DeepSeek Robotics, and Magic Atom.
